LMIA (Labour Market Impact Assessment)

With the help of a positive LMIA, a Canadian employer hires  foreign workers. A positive LMIA means that there is no Canadian worker present to perform a specific job and an employer needs to hire a foreign worker. LMIA was designed to protect the domestic job market and as well as the rights of the foreign workers. Once the LMIA is approved by Employment and Social Directorate Canada (ESDC), the employer can hire a foreign worker. The approval letter from ESDC is also termed as a confirmation letter. After the approval, a worker can apply for a work permit. For application of the work permit, one needs the following documents:

● A job offer

● A contract

● LMIA number

● A copy of LMIA
