EXPRESS ENTRY
Express Entry (EE) is a platform used to apply for immigration online. It enables anyone to create a profile and be considered for skilled immigration. The highest-ranking candidates will be asked to apply from an express entry pool for permanent residency. The fundamental idea behind this programme is to bring in immigrants who will be able to contribute to the Canadian economy right away once they’ve arrived. The average processing time for applications submitted under this program is 6 months.
Immigration programs under express entry:
● Federal skilled worker class (FSW)
● Canadian experience class (CEC)
● Federal skilled trades class (FST)
Selection factors under express entry:
Points are calculated on the basis of the selection factors mentioned below-
● age
● education
● work experience
● whether you have a valid job offer
● English and/or French language skills
● adaptability (how well you’re likely to settle here)
● Your spouse’s education, language abilities and work experience.
How are candidates chosen in Express Entry?
Once you meet all the desired conditions, you can submit your express entry application on the IRCC website. You will then be placed in the pool of people who have already applied for express entry. You will be ranked out of the pool depending upon the points you have against other people. If your score is more than the current draw cut off points, you will receive an ITA (invitation to apply). For example, if the latest draw had a cut off of 470 points, all the people having points above 470 will receive an invitation to apply.

Provincial Nomination programs
In addition to the regular immigration programs administered by the federal government, the provinces and territories also have the right to present some candidates according to their needs and requirements. This is called the Provincial PNP Nomination Program, and candidates are supposed to submit their intention to settle in a specific province and obtain a nomination letter. This letter from the PNP adds 600 points to the candidate’s profile.
